The Jintobaegi is a tall pole supporting a trio of wooden ducks. Since it's near the entrance to
Kangnung, it could be thought of as a sort of totem, connecting the people with the heavens and
the earth with the sky. It's believed that the Jintobaegi will prevent disasters, and bring peace,
a good harvest, and a good catch to this ancient fishing village.
